First Off – A big Thanks to Jack Y. for your recent generous donation to the site. As always I cannot say enough how much I appreciate it and how they do offset the costs of the site and time spent on it. I’ve received many donations this month that have helped out and it’s nice to know that the site and hours that go into it is appreciated. Thanks again Jack and to the rest of you :)

3/28 Erie Sets up The Catapult and Fires Away - It was Erie, Pa’s turn to launch some snowballs in the direction of Syracuse this time and Dave Belmondo was more than happy to step up to the snow mountain and fire away :) If you read below you will see that Andrew Donovan from Syracuse’s channel 9, WSYR was the first to throw a snowball at David Belmondo and the city of Erie. Erie who is in first place right now with some more snow in their forecast wasn’t going to just sit by and take the pounding from second place Syracuse, NY. Below are both video’s of some fun back and forth going on between Erie and Syracuse. Ut Oh, Erie has even gone a little further than Da’Cuse looking for a little help from Bishop Persico, lol. I’m loving it and Let the snowballs fly ;)

3/27 Syracuse Launches the First Attack – The snow race got a little bit closer this last update and once again Erie can hear footsteps coming up the snow mountain. Syracuse has closed the lead to just a little over an inch now and no doubt time is running out for all of the cities. Erie is still the King of the snow mountain as they have been most of the season.

I’m liking that some of the local news stations are starting to throw snowballs at each other and Syracuse started it yesterday with Channel 9 in Syracuse doing a little bit of trash talking with David Belmondo from WJET in Erie, PA. All in fun of course and that’s what the snow contest is about. Here is a clip of that and lets wait and see if David Belmondo has a few snowballs up his sleeve to toss back at Syracuse. Kind of seems like I am trying to instigate a good snowball fight doesn’t it ;) Of Course I AM!!!

I think I heard something about part 2 on Channel 9 news in Syracuse with Erie’s respond tonight. Stay tuned because I’m reading about more snow in the air come the end of the weekend. Have a Great Weekend Everyone :)

First off as always I want to thanks some people for their donations to the site. I checked my PayPal account today to send my son some money and was surprised to see that 3 people made donations to the last two days. It really made my day and makes the work that goes into the site feel like it’s appreciated :) A Big Thanks to Janet S., Nancy S., and Paul B. I think that is just about how many people who have donated to the site this entire season. Thanks again to all 3 of you, they really do help and I truly appreciate the thought and you taking the time :)

It seems like it is still snowing in most of the Golden Snow Globe cities. Erie added to their totals again and have now had their 8th snowiest season on record and most likely they will continue to move up on that list. Syracuse added enough snow to at least keep pace with what Erie is getting which is a good thing for Syracuse, NY. Grand Rapids did take second place away for a little while earlier when I was peaking at the snow stats but Syracuse wasn’t reporting their overnight snow at the time and Grand Rapids was. Some of the National Weather Service stations report at different times.

Either way both Grand Rapids and Buffalo are hanging close to Syracuse right now for the second place spot on the snow Mountain. Now one of the cities need to put some pressure on Erie, PA ;) Billings, Montana seems to have a decent enough lead over the cities below them to be sitting in the fifth place spot comfortably right now. Adam, who is from Billings posted a comment that they have received 28 inches in the last 7 days. Just think about it, in the last 7 days Billings had had almost what they should have for the whole season up until today which is 35 inches. No doubt some records are being set there.

I was listening to one of our local news stations here in Syracuse tonight, Channel 3, which is CNYCentral and meteorologist Mike Brookins had a pretty good line about how this winter has been for most places this season. He said something like “Don’t you kind of feel like we are all inside a snow globe and someone just keeps on shaking it”? I loved it and it does sum up this snow season doesn’t it?

Have a Super Week Everyone ;)

Nothing going on with the top 5 snowiest cities since the last update but a whole lot of shuffling going on from the cities below. The cities from Ohio and Minnesota did pretty good this update moving up the mountain. There are still a lot of cities staying close and it should be interesting to see what happens when this storm that is hitting the east coast is done and over with.

Pittsburgh joined the top 10 snowiest cities pushing Buffalo, NY out of the top 10. Pitt, PA may still be climbing as it looks like it is still snowing there. I’m watching the Philadelphia game and no doubt come the next update they will be climbing the snow mountain. It’s been snowing the whole game so far with some heavy snow falling at times. Being a Giants fan the game is starting to head in the wrong direction score wise and I’m sure I’ll be hearing from my brother who lives in Philly sometime soon unfortunately. It’s not looking good for the Giants either way so the chances are if they get eliminated I’ll be pulling for Philly who I normally root for after the Giants and the Jets.

Is it snowing in Erie today? Not a whole lot here in Syracuse or central New York yet and last I looked it’s going to be more of a mix than just all snow for us so this could be a chance for Erie to cushion their lead over the New Your cities. I’ll be checking the totals off and on as the National Weather Service reports them and will maybe do a top 10 update later if things change.

Enjoy What’s Left of the Weekend All ;)

Updated 11:00 PM – I just checked to see if NOAA posted any new snow stat.  After checking into it more I see that the next reports for Erie and Worcester will not be out until between 12:30 am and 1:00 am give or take.  Not sure what’s going on in Erie but it’s happening in Worcester right now and it looks like some more heavier snow may be moving in anytime now ;)   Jim Cantore from the weather channel is guesstimating around 6 inches from where he is in Worcester.  I’ll post the new stats when NOAA does a little later to see if we have a new leader.

Top 10 Just Updated -  Any Snow Updates From Worcester, MA and Erie, PA visitors? We’re Curious if it’s snowing there and how hard? Just leave a comment here to let us know what’s going on in your neck of the woods and Thanks for taking the time. :)   Any snow total estimates would be appreciated also ;)

Syracuse may want to be a bit worried right now. Erie, Pa closed the snow gap once again and are now just a couple of inches away from taking the lead. But then again, Erie, Pa may want to be a bit worried because Worcester, MA is expecting quite a bit of snow between today and tomorrow.

The National Weather Service was showing stats unavailable for Worcester, Mass as of their late afternoon update so it’s hard to tell how much snow is falling there. Erie added another inch + to their snow totals so come tomorrow night it should be interesting to see who is the latest King of the Snow Mountain.

Have a Great Night All and See Snow Drive Slow ;)

I just did a full update and the Golden Snow Globe contest just keeps getting closer with each update. Syracuse, NY continues to hold on to a slim lead to stay on top of the snow mountain but… Erie, Pa has closed the lead and are now just 3.5 inches away from them. Worcester, Mass is still hanging with the big boys and a few flakes here and there and they could easily move into first place.

Most of the other snowy cities in the US have some catching up to do but all it takes is a storm or two to change things around. I’ve been keeping an eye on the latest storm coming in from the west of the top 3 cities and being from Syracuse I don’t think I like it too much. Last I looked it is suppose to hang to the south of Syracuse. It will be interesting to see if Erie can tap into this storm at all or if it will stay south of them also. I have a feeling Erie may grab just enough snow flakes to slip past Syracuse. I’m haven’t seen yet if it is suppose to move toward Massachusetts yet??? If so Syracuse could be dropping all the way down to 3rd place on the mountain.

I left places like Baltimore, Maryland, Philly, Washington in the contest all season thinking they would do a repeat of a few years ago when they were getting in on the coastal storms but so far nothing :( That should change with this storm if it stays on the path they are predicting. Their snow stats have been pretty pathetic and this could be a chance for them to maybe at least break intot the top 50.

On another note I have been noticing a lot of visitors from Erie, Pa coming to the site from facebook. It took me awhile to figure out where they were coming from on facebook but I found out where and wanted to say thanks for mentioning the snow contest on your facebook page. If anyone is interested in Erie, Pa or from there and don’t know about their page it’s worth checking out and they have a ton of information about Erie along with a lot of great pictures and great people on there. It’s at https://www.facebook.com/#!/Erie.Pennsylvania

Have a GREAT Week Everyone ;)

Syracuse managed to slip past Erie, Pa in what has been a back and forth snow race for the past month. As of yesterdays totals Syracuse is winning the Golden Snow Globe contest by just 4.1 inches of snowfall. Could Erie knock Syracuse from the top of the snow mountain? Hell yeah and it won’t take a whole lot to do it. Keep in mind that Worcester, Ma and Salt Lake City are right behind them on the mountain and can also jup to the top with just one little storm.

How did Erie make out today I wonder. A little snow here in the Syracuse area overnight but most of the time it was rain. Maybe another inch or two to add but that’s about it.

This was a full update and I’ll get at least a couple of top 10 updates in during the next few days seeing how it is suppose to start cooling down again ;)
