snowiest us city

The Colorado cities are still looking pretty good adding some snow with each update. Anchorage is also still adding to their snow totals to go on top of that storm they had earlier in the season. Enough to keep them on top of the Golden Snow Globe mountain. Erie, Pa a city that always has me worried jumped 19 spots to number 11 this update. They are still far from the top but a city to keep an eye on. Syracuse, the national snow champs with a population of 100,000 or more is looking at having their least snowiest December on record with just 2.2 inches to date :( . My guess is unless some snow starts falling soon a lot of cities may have their least snowiest December or top 5 on record.

That said I’m curious as to which city you think will win this seasons snow contest? Just click on the little bubble and leave a comment in this post. Do you think Anchorage will be able to hold on to the lead? Will one of the Colorado cities be the king of the snow mountain? Any chance of Syracuse, Buffalo or Rochester making a run to the top? Let us know who you think will win :)

Have a Great Week All ;)

12/7 – We just did a top 10 update as of 10:30 am :)

OK, all of the Golden Snow Globe cities have been updated and posted as of late 12/6. Quite a few changes in the line up but Spokane, Washington managed to hang on and that’s without them adding to their snow totals. They won’t last long. The northeast made out the best this last update and come tomorrow there will be some more changes.

One thing to keep in mind is that when I am checking the snow stats at NOAA the times of the last update for certain cities varies by as much as 8 – 10 hours. An example would be that Syracuse’s snow stats came out at around 10 PM but Buffalo hasn’t given an update since around 4:00. So there is a good chance that Buffalo may be ahead of Syracuse. Different NOAA weather stations post at different times. That said I’ll try to get a top 10 update in tomorrow so stay tuned :)

Have a great week all and drive careful – See Snow – Drive Slow!

I still need to get some stats for a few cities that have me concerned. Mainly some of the Colorado cities not listed here because I haven’t been able to find snow stats on them plus a couple of others. In other words I’m being a sissy man in calling Syracuse the winner just yet. I will get a hold of everyone I need to and make an announcement next week. Yeah I know I’m a wimp but I would rather get it right for the first annual national snow contest for cities with a population of 100,000 or more. Just a bit longer.

Cheers, Patrick
