Lots of Changes in National Snow Contest

Billings, Montana holds onto the lead in the snowiest Big city in the United States snow contest. Billings added another 2.8 inches of new snow to their snow totals the last couple of days to win a snowball fight against Spokane, Washington.

Spokane, WA set a date record yesterday, 11/5 picking up 3.2 inches of new snow breaking the old record of 1.9 inches set back in 2013. More than enough snow to slip past Lakewood, Colorado and slide into the #2 spot on the snow mountain. Lakewood slipped down into the #3 slot Seattle, WA also set a date record with 0.4 inches to start off their snow season.

Anchorage, Alaska picked up 3.4 inches of new snow yesterday and moved from the number 10 slot to the number 4 spot in the national Golden Snow Globe contest. Anchorage is still almost 6 inches behind what the average snow to date should be which is 10.0 inches of snow.

Top 5 Snowiest Big Cities in US

From what I have been reading and hearing it could start getting a little bit interesting for the Northeast come the end of the week. It looks like there could be a pretty good drop in the temps which hopefully sets up some lake effect snow. Should be fun if it does so stay tuned and have a Great day ;)

Anchorage, Alaska Starts Their 2016-2017 Snow Season

Anchorage, Alaska has received 2.6 inches of snow the last couple of days so far to start off their snow season. According to the National Weather Service.  The average snowfall to date for Anchorage is 5.6 inches.

I was able to get a full update in early today, Monday, for all of the other cities.  So far as of the last update, Billings and Anchorage are the only cities with any measurable snow for the 2016-2017 snow season.  Billings, Montana started off this season’s Golden Snow Globe contest with 3 inches of snow.  It will be interesting to see if Anchorage can slip past Billings and will be interesting to see if any other cities receive any measurable snow this week.

As of this last update, there are about 35 cities that are behind their average snowfall for today’s date. Meaning that on average about 35 of the big cities with a population of 100,000 or more have at least a tenth of snow at this time in the season.

Golden Snow Globe Winter Outlook Forecast Soon

I’m leaning toward a snowier than average season for most of the cities this season. Stay tuned for the long-awaited, highly anticipated Golden Snow Globe winter outlook forecast that will be coming soon. You know, the only forecast that is totally made up but is accurate about zero percent of the time. It’s coming soon :)
