First things first As always! I want to say Thanks You to Benjamin O. and Eileen P. for your kind donations to the site. It may sound like a repeat but I do truly appreciate you both for taking the time. Thanks Benjamin and Eileen :)

OK, I figure it’s about time to just put out a little info about the snow contest seeing how new visitors come everyday to the site. These are a couple of early morning posts that I made in our Facebook group which by the way is open to all snow lovers and haters too. Over 200 members sharing pictures and stories and growing each day :) Click Here to Join The Facebook Group :)

This is just to give all a little info on the snow stats on the website. For 12 -13 years I’ve been doing it this way and it’s worked out good and there is NO doubt it my mind it’s the best way. All of the snow stats that I use on the snow sites I get from the National Weather Service. They get them from sources across the country, blah, blah, blah and then they post the snow statistics to their site at weather.gov.

It comes down to that I need to see something posted on the National Weather Service (NWS) site so that if a reporter, a snow plow person, or pretty much anyone gets in touch with me I have something to show them. Pretty much something to cover my butt if the snow stats are being questioned. Yes, this way I can blame it on the National Weather Service, joking.

In the case of Lowell, MA I have no reason to doubt Shawn, who is the CoOp for Lowell, Mass and does the weather measurements for them about their snow totals and other stuff. It really takes a dedicated person to do what Shawn and many others do around the clock to help all of us out. Anyways Shawn has been posting some totals that he has measured for Lowell which I have no problem with. It gives us a heads up on what’s going on there There is a Good chance that Lowell, MA according to Shawn is in 1st place right now,

BUT…. Like I have done for the last 12-13 years on the Golden Snowball site, until I see it being posted on the National Weather Service I have to go with the snow totals they are showing which at last check is 100.8. I see different numbers all day long floating around online for different cities. The National Weather Service is where we get our data from and that is what we will go by. When they report we report…

Also keep in mind that it is not that unusual for statistics which show in the Now Data section on the weather service site to be behind. This has been the case since I have been checking snow stats. Most do an update once a day though. So in other words until the NWS updates I have no choice but to stick with the snow totals I see them reporting… End of Story and They Lived Happily Ever After smile emoticon

Another post I made relating to adding cities to the contest and if you know of one that has a population of 100,000 or more and can make it into the Top 25 PLEASE feel free to share it with us ;)

This was a reply to someone asking about a couple of other cities in Massachusetts but it applies to all of the cities.

As far as I know the other cities don’t have any official snow stats. If they do I can’t find the By official I mean from the National Weather Service and stats that they consider to be official.

As far as putting other cities in the snow contest I do add several cities each season. I also remove several cities if nothing is going on snow wise there. I do check the cities that were removed from time to time. Obviously every city with a Population of 100,000 isn’t going to be listed. I’m guessing it would be over 100 and probably way more than that. I do try my best to keep it so that the top 25 cities are the snowiest but even that is hard to do. This season and Lowell, MA is a good example.

Lowell was never on the radar in the past. Because of the way this season is going someone suggested them, I researched them and they were added as they should be. Keep in mind that an update on average depending if I blog about it, do any research and so on takes 2-3 hours. This season I have made it a point to get at least two updates in. I did cut some cities a couple of weeks ago that weren’t doing much and that saved me a little bit of time. Keep in mind this is a one man show and not the Weather Channel who I’m sure has a ton of people looking up all the stuff they talk about and trust me I’m not complaining

Stephen helps out also and normally finds some fun stuff to add to the snow sites. I know he already hard at work thinking of something for next season

A big part of the FUN snow contests is that people are also suggesting a city that may have showed up on the radar and that helps me out a lot. They also make some good suggestions about a change on the site and other things. It’s the interaction with all of you snow lovers and haters that makes it fun for me. OK, the donations help too with the the time spent on the sites. I just added up the hours I put into the snow sites, mainly this one the last 4 days and it’s over 60 hours. Normally it’s around 30-40 I would say. I enjoy it though.

If anyone has a city that may be missing, mainly that would be in the Top 25 at this time in the season PLEASE feel free to let me know using the contact page above..

Have an Awesome Day Everyone :)

Updated 2/13/15 - First as always I want to say Thank You to Jeff K. and Jessica M. for your donations to the snow site yesterday and for the kind words too. Not only do they help but they are truly appreciated. Thanks Jeff and Jessica :) A mug of hot chocolate w/peppermint schnapps sounds good BTW Jeff!

I want to give a Big Thanks to Uschi K. for your donation to the website. I loved the way you calculated obviously and Thanks for the kind words Uschi, I appreciate both very much :)

OK, Will Shawn be the most disliked person in Erie, PA today? More on that as you read below ;) BTW, Shawn is a nice guy so don’t hate on the messenger. Then again he is a little more than that.

Lowell, MA is at 87.9 as of the last update so they will be moving just past Erie, PA which is at 86.9 right now into the, WOW, number 3 spot on the snow mountain…

With the way the weather pattern has been the last few weeks with no end in sight to storms hitting I have been asking for suggestions and input of cities that may need to be added to the snow contest. Cities with a population of 100,000 or more (2010 Census) and with at least 30+ inches of snow to make it into the Top 25. The way that Massachusetts and the cities in the state have been getting pounded I was thinking that there are probably some missing and indeed there was/is/are. KEEP SENDING THEM IF YOU SEE THEM.

Thanks to Shawn who brought up Lowell in our Facebook Group so I could research the city and who is probably going to be the least liked person in Erie, PA today I made a few calls and they do belong in the National snow contest. I actually called 3 different National Weather Service Stations to confirm including the Boston Weather Forecast Office in Taunton, MA in which I forgot to get his name.

OK, Shawn is the CO-OP, COOP that goes out in the cold and keeps all of the snow stats and other weather related stats for Lowell, MA around the clock. Thanks Shawn, for what you do and NO padding those numbers, joking of course. Feel free to join our Facebook Group where all of the breaking news come out not o mention it’s a good group and a lot of FUN.

Click Here to Join Our Snowiest City Facebook Page

I also had to call a couple of other NWS stations for some other information and not that I didn’t trust Taunton I figured I would get another confirmation. All nice people BTW and more than willing to help me out. A Big Thanks to Dan from my NWS in Binghamton, NY and to Tom Hawley from the National Weather Forecast Office in Grey, Maine who helped me out with another city.

I had to call the Grey, Maine NWS office to see what was going on with Manchester, New Hampshire’s snow stats because they is a lot of missing data not to mention to conflicting snow totals for Manchester, NH. Tom told me that they just took over Manchester not too long ago and that it should be a lot better come next season. Anyways I had a nice talk with Tom who was an awesome guy and took the time to look up some stuff for me. I appreciate the help from all of you. For now I am going to hold off on adding Manchester because we don’t know what’s going on with the two different totals and how accurate they are. Feel free to convince me to change my mind. I always listen and I’m always open to suggestions.

I do promise that if Manchester continues to climb the snow mountain I will definitely revisit the thought of adding them and make a lot more calls. I’m pretty sure that I have checked in previous season and back then there was absolutely nothing to go on. At least this could be a start :(

Have an Awesome Day Everyone and Please Drive Safe. See Now – Drive Slow unless on a sled of course ;)

A Big Thanks to Robert M. and Tim S. for your donations to the snow site today. I can’t say it enough how much they help me out and how much I appreciate you taking the time. Thanks Guys :

To Robert, tell your daughter I appreciate her sympathy on the situation with out Syracuse men’s basketball team ;) Oh, and don’t count Syracuse out just yet in the snow contest ;)

To Tim, my pleasure to help you out and I WILL do exactly what you said to do with the donation, cheers ;)

Updated 2/11/15 10:00 am - I just wanted to give a heads up that with the storms hitting the North East US the last couple of weeks most likely there will be more cities being added to the National Snow Contest. I have been getting some emails and comments letting me know about cities that were previously not in the contest.

Keep in mind that there are I’m sure hundreds of cities with a population of 100,000 or more that do get snow. Not all of them can be added nor should they be added. That said with the unusual pattern we are in there are some new cities that have been getting pounded by snow and will most likely make the Top 25 list.

The problem right now for me is going to be trying to figure out most likely by calling some of the National Weather Service’s stations for each city to see if the snow stats are official or not. Soooo in other words it’s going to take some time to get the info and put it all together ;) I think until then we should keep everything as UNOFFICIAL for now :( OK, it’s not like it hasn’t always been like that I suppose ;)

IF YOU have or know of a city with a population of 100,000 or more as of the 2010 census that has enough snow right now to make it into the Top 30 snowiest cities on our list please feel free to help us out. Keep in mind that as good as the National Weather Service is Not all of the cities report the statistics for their snowfall. Thanks and Stay Tuned..
———————————–
I just updated the snow stats and switched it back to the current snow totals and what they should be on this date in the season. What stands out big time is that Both Worcester, Mass and Boston are both 50 plus inches over where they should be this time in the season. Pretty impressive IMO and WTG.

Almost all of the cities in the Top 25 are ever their normal (If there is such a thing) snowfall on the date this season. Syracuse, NY also stands out being the only city in the Top 10 snowiest cities in the country to be under their averages and they are under by more than a foot of snow.

Click Here for The New Top 25 Update

I added Manchester, New Hampshire to the contest today and with the way the storms are going there will be probably more to add. I had some suggestions to add a couple more cities but unfortunately I couldn’t come across any official snow stats on the National Weather Service website. Right now I am seeing a couple different totals for Manchester at the NOAA site and I will try and straighten out what is going on when I get a chance. That is why the question mark is there after their totals.

Have a Great Night Everyone ;)

I just wanted to give a big Thanks to Sandy R. for your donation to the snow site. It helps out a lot and I really appreciate. Thanks Sandy :)

Updated 2/9 5:30 PM – The breaking news that I think some of were expecting did play out and as of the last update Worcester, Ma has taken the lead away from our good friends in Erie, Pa. The new Top 10 snowiest Big cities are posted but I’m still finishing updating the rest top 25 snowiest cities. WTG Worcester and more to come in a bit.

Worcester, Ma is also the 1st city to hit the 90 inch mark and they are in the 90 inch club but it has to be a boring club because they are alone right now ;)
—————————————————————-

Updated 9 am 2/9/15 – Worcester continues to storm their way up the snow mountain and they seem to set set in a pattern right now and it’s a good one if you like snow. Worcester barely slipped past Buffalo, NY on the Golden Snow Globe snow mountain and are now back in the number 2 slot. Erie, Pa who has been camped out at the peak of the snow mountain may want to start taking down the tents and Please don’t forget this is a carry out mountain ;)

Erie, Pennsylvania, defending snow champs from last season are still the king of the mountain but their lead has been melted away to just 1.4 inches of snow. Looking at the Radar I think it’s looking pretty good right now that some time today we will have a new leader and my hunch is that it is going to be Worcester, Massachusetts ;)

The top 3 cities in the National snow contest are really close right now and I think this is going to be a battle right til the end of the season. Worcester has been a worthy competitor for several seasons but it will be tough holding onto the top spot if and more like when they take the 1st place slot. Even with Lake Erie pretty much frozen over (I’ll have to check on that) Erie, Pa and Buffalo, NY will still be piling up some more snow to add to their snowfall totals.

Don’t count out some of the other cities like Syracuse which moved into 4th place yesterday. They are know for their late season comebacks and I think this storm was the jump start they needed this season. Lake effect has been minimum for Syracuse and Rochester too this season. Grand Rapids isn’t through getting in the snowball fights and I’m sure it’s the same with South Bend too.

Not much being said about Boston, Mass but I think we have to include them in when talking about the snowiest city in the US this season with a population of 100,000 or more. These 3 storms in a row that I think hit in a matter of just two weeks have sledded Boston all the way up to the number 6 spot on the snow mountain. WTG Boston with 62.5 inches of snow so far and counting. OK, enough for now but STAY TUNED for the late date update. It should be really interesting to see if we have a new leader ;)
——————————————————–

Updated 2/9 130 AM -Worcester, Mass just updated their snow stats a little while ago and they are now also in the 80 inches of snow club along with Erie, Pa and Buffalo, NY. Buffalo normally doesn’t report until around 5am and when they do it will probably be a super close snow race. I think the question right now is which city will be in 2nd place in the morning? Stay tuned and Good Night ;)
—————————-

Updated 8 PM 2/8 – Buffalo, New York hit 80 inches of snow the last update. Only 2 cities are in the 80 inch club right now which are Erie, PA and Buffalo ;)
————————
This could be one of the biggest comebacks that I can remember since starting the National Snow Contest with Worcester, MA having a real shot at moving into the top spot on the snow mountain. I’m sure it’s probably getting old for the folks in some of the cities that seem to be in the snow pattern we are in and just keep getting pounded. BTW, no public school for you kids and teachers in Boston tomorrow and Tuesday, Whooo Hooo ;) Most likely Worcester and other parts of Mass but check with your local sites on that..

I just got an update in and Worcester isn’t reporting this time round. Boston did have new snow stats and managed to jump up another spot already. Boston, MA just passed Rochester, NY to move into 7th place in the national snow contest. I have a feeling they will be climbing up some more when all is said and done. WTG Boston ;)

Syracuse, NY, yes I can finally talk a little about my hometown also jumped up a spot sliding past Grand Rapids, Michigan to move into the 4th place spot. Syracuse really needs to cut into some of the lead from this snow storm or else they could be in trouble. Just remember that Syracuse’s nickname is the comeback city ;)

I am going to be posting a lot more right here in this post as the snow stats come in. WHAT IS IT DOING IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS. Feel free to post a comment right here and keep us all updated… Stay Tuned, this is going to be fun watching to see how all of the cities do.

Please drive safe and stay safe everyone and have an Awesome Night :)

A big Thanks to Carol D. for your donation to the site. It is deeply appreciated and helps offset the costs and time spent on the site. Thanks Carol :)

Updated 2/3 Noon - The National Snow Contest is really starting to get close as Worcester, Mass has closed the snow lead that Erie, Pa had. I think this storm was the storm of the season so far for the fact that it effected so many cities and states.

All it took was a couple of decent snow storms for Worcester to come from wayyyy behind to once again reclaim the second place spot on the snow mountain from Buffalo, NY. Those two cities have been going back and forth and every now and then Grand Rapids, MI has jumped in. Right now it seems like Worcester has Mother Natures attention and she is being quite kind to them, or not.

Erie, Pa was the 1st city to hit the 70 inch mark followed by Worcester, MA and Buffalo needs just a few more snowflakes to join the 70 inch club. It looks like Erie will be the 1st this season to also hit the 80 inch snow club needing less than an inch to do it.

As I mentioned before it’s Still hard to believe that not so long ago on 1/21 Worcester, Mass was in 27th place in the National Golden Snow Globe contest with only 13.9 inches on the season. As of the latest update they are at 72.6 inches. The combine snow totals of the 2 snowstorms that hit Worcester is right around 52 inches give or take. This all happened in just a weeks time. Even the smaller snow belt areas like The Tug Hill have to be somewhat impressed I would think. WTG Worcester ;)

Some of The Cities That Set Date Records For Snowfall Yesterday 2/2/2015

The first number is the new snow record set for yesterday followed by the old snowfall record and date…

Buffalo – 8.2 – 8.0 2013

Worcester – 17.4 – 8.4 1974

Syracuse – 8.8 – 7.0 1990

Boston – 16.2 – 11.1 1974

Providence, RI – 7.9 – 6.5 1934

Hartford, Conn – 10.8 – 6.5 1916

Bridgeport, Conn – 10.3 – 3.2 1985

Newark, NJ – 4.2 – 3.4 1985

Have a Great Day All and Watch Your Back Erie, Some of Us Are Getting Ready to Storm The Mountain ;)

Updated 2/2 7 PM – All of the snowiest cities were just updated and once again a ton of changes in the lineup. I think all of the cities in the Top 25 snowiest cities in the US have jumped around on the snow mountain with this snow storm that is still hitting some of the cities. Below are several of the cities that broke the date records for yesterday and today. Keep in mind that the last update for most of the cities are as of 4-5 PM so the snow totals will be going up for some of them…

Several Cities That Had Snow Records Broken 2/1/2014

* Grand Rapids, Michigan set a date record today with 8.8 inches of snow and counting breaking the old record of 6.1 set back in 2011.

* South Bend, Indiana set a date record with 14.7 inches breaking the old of 8.4 set in 2011.

* Fort Wayne, Indiana – set a date record with 9.0 breaking the old of 4.9 2011

* Flint, Michigan – set a date record with 8.0 breaking the old of 6.8 set way back in 1967

* Detroit, Michigan – set a date record with 13.7 inches of snow breaking the old of 9.8 set in 1881

* Milwaukee, Wisconsin – new record of 10.4 inches of snow breaking the old of 9.0 from way, way back in 1915

*Chicago, Illinois – seat a date record with 16.2 inches breaking the old record of 13.6 set in 2011

Todays Snow Records Broken for the Date 2/2/2015

* Worcester, MA – set a date record with 11.2 inches breaking the old of 8.4 in 1974

* Syracuse, NY – set a date record with 8.5 beating the old of 7.0 set in 1990

* Hartford, Conn – set a date record with 6.9 breaking the old of 6.5 set way back in 1916

* Bridgeport, Conn – set a date record with 9.3 breaking the old record of 3.2 set in 1985

* Newark, NJ – set a date record with 4.2 beating the old record of 3.4 set in 1985

Updated 1 PM - There has been a lot of shuffling and snowballs being thrown the last day or two and it’s not over yet. This latest snow storm from what I have read was/is suppose to effect something like 100,000,000 people and seems to be doing just that. The latest update that I just did shows a lot of date records for yesterday being broken. Below are a few of the bigger cities that set snow records for yesterday. Most likely there are going to be a lot more set today when the afternoon snow updates come in later this afternoon from the National Weather Service.

Erie, Pa has cushioned their lead over the rest of us, for now anyways. For a lot of the cities the overnight snow totals, today’s snow hasn’t been reported yet so without a doubt there is going to be a whole lot more shuffling going on when I get the next snow totals updated. It’s going to be interesting to see how Boston and Worcester do with this storm after just getting pounded by the blizzard not too long ago. Stay Safe All and Stay Tuned, it’s getting really interesting.

Several Cities That Had Snow Records Broken 2/1/2015

* Grand Rapids, Michigan set a date record today with 8.8 inches of snow and counting breaking the old record of 6.1 set back in 2011.

* South Bend, Indiana set a date record with 14.7 inches breaking the old of 8.4 set in 2011.

*Chicago, Illinois – set a date record with 16.2 inches breaking the old record of 13.6 set in 2011

Updated 2/2 1 PM - I’ll be keeping this post updated as the snow storm hitting the North East continues throughout the day. Have an Awesome day all and stay safe ;)

I was wondering which city was going to make the move for the second place spot on the snow mountain and it looks like it is Buffalo, NY. Buffalo jumped up from the number 4 spot and slipped past Worcester, Mass and Grand Rapids, Michigan this last update. Erie, Pa, last seasons snow champions are digging in at the top of the mountain and now have a snow lead of almost 11 inches over 2nd place Buffalo.

Before this last update only 0.3 inches of snowfall were separating Grand Rapids, Worcester and Buffalo from the 2nd place slot. Snow is in the forecast for a lot of the cities this weekend so as I mentioned before I think there is going to be a lot of back and forth going on over the weekend. The big question now is can anyone make up some snowflakes on Erie?

Syracuse, NY is still on Spring Break it seems. It’s been cold for awhile now but they just can’t seem to get the wind to blow their way. It seems like every time it is snowing in Central New York that they put up some kind of bubble over the city/airport. The same goes for Rochester, NY. Every time I look at the radars I see snow all around both of both cities but for some reason it stays a few miles away. I think both cities better start making some snowballs and get into the snowball fights this season ;)

I started up a Facebook page/group for anyone that wants to join. Any posts from here will also be pushed up to the Facebook group and it will also make it easier for anyone that wants to share some pictures, news articles and so on with all of us. It’s kind of a trial run and we’ll see how it goes. Please feel free to join by going to Here to the Golden Snow Globe FB Group Page. It should be fun for both snow lovers and haters and of course a little bit of fun, friendly picking on each others cities snow wise will be allowed I think ;)

Have a Great Day All and Take it Slow on The Roads….

Worcester, Mass Third Snowiest Big City in US

Still hard to believe that just about a week or so ago on 1/21 Worcester, Mass was in 27th place in the National Golden Snow Globe contest with 13.9 inches of snowfall for the 2014 – 2015 snow season. They now have 54.6 inches of snow on the season and counting. Boston, Massachusetts was in 45th place with only 5.5 inches of snow on the season. Right now they are at #9 in the snow contest with 35.0 inches of snowfall this season and maybe still counting.

Worcester, Massachusetts continues their quest to be crown the King of The Snow Mountain. All of yesterdays snowflakes were carefully counted in Worcester and they have pushed another city down a spot on the snow mountain. This time it was Buffalo, NY who dropped a spot to #4 while Worcester took over the #3 spot in the snow contest. Is Worcester, Mass done adding snow to their totals from this most recent snow storm?

I don’t have a clue and I can’t wait to see what the next snow update from NOAA looks like. Right Now Worcester is only 0.2 inches of snow away from taking over the #2 spot and pushing Grand Rapids, Michigan down a slot. Right now only a few tenths of an inch separate Grand Rapids, Buffalo and Worcester so most likely we will be seeing a lot of back and fourth pushing going on near the top of the snow mountain.

Defending snow champs Erie, Pa looks to be safe for the time being camping out at the top of the mountain with snow lead of just about 10 inches of snow. After this last snow storm I have to wonder though if Erie isn’t rearming themselves with a fresh batch of snowballs to fend off any challengers that we all know will be rushing toward them. Pretty amazing what difference one little storm makes isn’t it?

Boston, MA also moved up another spot bumping Cleveland, Ohio down the mountain. Boston is now #9 in the snow contest and Cleveland rounds out the top 10 snowiest cities in the United States with a population of 100,000 or more. Below are a few notable snow stats from the snow storm and as always ignore my fuzzy math in case I added wrong ;)

Snow Storm Totals

Worcester, Mass – 1/26 = 2.6 inches, 1/27 = 31.9 inches Storm Total = 34.5 inches
Boston – 1/26 = 2.3, 1/27 = 22.1 Storm Total = 24.4 inches
Providence – 1/26 = 3.1, 1/27 = 16.0 Storm Total = 19.1 inches of snow

Date Records Set for Snow Yesterday 1/27

Worcester, Mass – 31.9 breaking the old record of 11.0 set in 2011
Boston, Mass – 22.1 breaking the old record of 8.8 set in 2011
Providence, RI 16.0 breaking the old record of 6.7 set in 2011

I should be able to get another update in a bit later when the new snow stats are post by the National Weather Service. It should be interesting to see what place Worcester, MA, Grand Rapids and Buffalo are all in when the new snow stats come out.

Have an Awesome Day Everyone ;)

WOW, what a long couple of days it’s been crunching numbers, gathering stats and watching the snow storm on the radars and TV but it’s been a blast and it was all worth it :) To be honest I am also jealous.. Probably not quite as fun though for those in the storms path and hopefully everyone is doing OK and is safe!

Just think, about a week or so ago on 1/21 Worcester, Mass was in 27th place in the National Golden Snow Globe contest with 13.9 inches of snowfall for the 2014 – 2015 snow season. They now have 51.1 inches of snow on the season and counting. Boston, Massachusetts was in 45th place with only 5.5 inches of snow on the season and after this last update now have 31.4 inches. What a difference a week makes not to mention a snow storm that will go down in the weather history books and record books. WTG Worcester and Boston ;)

So far the cities that are in the Golden Snow Globe contest that stand out the most are Worcester, MA , Boston and Providence, RI. Below are the storm totals and as always keep in mind my fuzzy math shows up every now and then ;)

Winter Snow Storm Totals as of 4:00 PM 1/27

Worcester – 1/26 = 2.6, 1/27 = 28.4 as of 4 PM Storm Totals = 31 inches
Boston – 1/26 = 2.3, 1/27 = 18.5 as of 4 PM Storm Totals = 20.8 inches
Providence – 1/26 = 3.1, 1/27 = 14.2 as of 4 PM Storm Total = 17.3

A Few Snow Records For the Date That Were Set Today -

Worcester, Mass – 28.4 today breaking the old record of 11.0 set in 2011
Boston, Mass – 18.5 today breaking the old record of 8.8 set in 2011
Providence, RI 14.2 today breaking the old record of 6.7 set in 2011

Worcester has climbed the Golden Snow Globe mountain in record time pushing Syracuse, NY out of the number 4 slot on the mountain and bumping a whole lot of other cities down the snow mountain too. Worcester’s next targets are Grand Rapids and Buffalo ;)

Boston has managed to go from the number 45 slot all the way into the Top 10 at number 10. The thing is that I don’t think either of the cities are finished yet. Last I heard they are still adding to their snow totals. It’s going to get even more interesting when the next round of snow stats come out from the National Weather Service the next update.

I think Grand Rapids, Michigan should be a little worried right about now and maybe, just maybe those of you in Erie, Pa may want to watch your backs the next several hours because Worcester may be heading your way soon. Stay Tuned and Stay Safe All!

Have an Awesome Night!

Updated 1/27 11 AM - It looks like it was a bust for NYC as far as the snow totals go from this storm but several of the other cities are getting pounded pretty good. I’ve been talking to a couple of my nieces around the Boston area and they said it’s pretty snowy there but of course being from Syracuse they are loving it and were getting ready to bring their kids out to play in the snow for a bit.

I heard from another friend who is in the Worcester area and she said over 2 feet of snow so far and counting. If that’s the case and it’s close to the unofficial totals I am seeing then Erie, Pa, Buffalo, NY and Grand Rapids may want to start making some snowballs to fend Worcester’s challenge to the top of the snow mountain off ;) Syracuse and South Bend might as well stay out of this snowball fight and save their energy for the next storm because chances are come the next update a little later Worcester will be ahead of them.

The snow storm is still going on and expected to continue throughout the day. I’m like a little kid at Christmas waiting for the next snow stats from NOAA to be posted. I’ll get an update in when the official snow stats come out later. Stay Tuned and Stay Safe if you’re in the storms path…

Several of the snowiest cities in the national snow contest are under blizzard warnings and winter storm warnings as of this morning, Monday – 1/26/2015. I will be keeping some of the updates from the National Weather Service posted in this post as they come in. Keep in mind that this is not a news site but just a fun snow site meaning go to the pros for your current weather conditions and what is in the forecast for your area. Take this storm seriously and if you are in the blizzard warning areas you may want to stay home when it hits ;)

No doubt it will be interesting to see where NYC, Boston, Worcester, Newark and some of the other cities end up when this winter storm is done dumping snow. See below for links to information on the storm from the National Weather Service. Here are snow totals for some of the cities before the storm and what place they were in. Let’s see if they climb the snow mountain ;)
