UPDATED – 6:30 PM – I just did a double check of the new snow stats that just came out for the top 3 snowiest cities. There is a change on the top of the snow mountain and the New Snow King Erie, Pa has the Lucky Sevens, 77.7. Congrats but Don’t get too use to it though my friends in Erie.

I just did a full update on all of the snowy cities in the US. Rumor is going around that Erie, Pa may have taking the lead again. The National Weather Service updates the snow stats anywheres from 2 – 3 times a day depending on their weather station.

That said, this update has the newest snow totals as of the end of yesterday, 2/19. I’ve had a couple people say that they think Erie could be in the lead now. With that in mind as of yesterday Syracuse still holds a slim lead of just 0.7 inches over Erie. That may change when the new snow stats come out around 5:30 this evening. I’ll look and see what both Erie and Syracuse are reporting for the overnight and part of today and add those totals to see who is in the lead before I head out to catch the Syracuse basketball game. Go Cuse’.

It’s still snowing in Erie, Pa and in Syracuse, NY. The flakes must be bigger in Erie though because they continue to be the King of the snow mountain. Erie is also adding to their lead over the rest of the cities and piled up a half a foot lead over second place Syracuse.

Make me wonder if they are doing the same thing that their Pennsylvania basketball teams have been doing to the Syracuse Orange mens basketball team. Letting them think they are in the game only to only to shut them down just enough at the end. So far Syracuse’s 3 losses are from PA teams, which were Temple, Villanova and Pittsburg. The good thing is that there is still plenty of time left in both the snow season and the basketball season :) Win or lose let’s hope it’s at least a Big East kind of season as this will be the last time most if not all play in the Big East :(

I’m curious as to which is the college basketball team that is the favorite in the Erie, Pa area???

OK, back to snow totals. This was just a top 25 snowiest city update meaning I only went 25 cities deep. The top 10 should be a safe bet as I have them now but I didn’t go down past number 25 on the list. Chances are there are a few cities below that probably have more snow than some of the other cities in the top 25. I’ll get a full update in when I have a few hours to spare.

Take care and have an awesome week everyone!!!

OK, this is going to be a quick post while waiting for the power to come back on for the Super Bowl :) I’ve been working on the stats all day off and on and it was worth it. Is there a new leader in the Golden Snow Globe contest? You know where to look to check it out.

Less than 3/10 of an inch are separating the top 2 cities right now.  Snow is suppose to be flying the rest of the week so I will keep an eye on the weather and try to get at least several top 10 updates in during the week.

Enjoy the rest of the game and let’s hope the 49ers get their act together to make the game a little more exciting ;)   Oh, and keep thinking of the numbers 9 and 8 ;)

Have a Super Week Everyone!!!

First off a Happy New Year to All of Our Visitors ;)

Syracuse has taken over the top spot on the snow mountain this last update. Just a week or so ago they were at 3 inches on the season but added another 33 inches to move into first place and be the first city to hit the yard of snow mark. After the 3 days of shoveling this guys back decided to slip out so I’m kind of hoping for a little bit of a break from shoveling. Yeah, I’m a sissy man and you would think living in the snowiest big city (pop 100,000 or more) I would have a snow blower after all of these years. Maybe next season ;)

A lot of the cities added some new snow to their totals. I think all but about 3 – 4 cites had some new snowfall to add up. Ohio, Rhode Island and Connecticut seemed to be the states on the move upward on the Golden Snow Globe mountain. Colorado is still pretty quiet and so was last years snow champ Anchorage, Alaska.

Looking across the country there is still some cold air spread out all around the US. That could make for another interesting update come the next update. What I’m still liking is the fact that it’s really early in the 2012 – 2013 snow season and there are quite a few cities still within striking distance of the top spot. Good Luck and Way to Go Syracuse! Hay, way to go Syracuse football and basketball and it will be interesting to see if Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim can pass Bobby Knight’s record tonight with win over Rutgers for win number 903. Good Luck coach B and thanks for the 50 years at SU.

Have a Great Week All and Drive Careful :)

The big 3 from New York, Syracuse, Buffalo and Rochester climbed quite a ways up the snow mountain but Spokane, Washington had a few more flakes to take over the King of the Mountain spot from Anchorage. Way to go Spokane!!!

All of the cities are up to date and it’s looking like it will be a close and fun race to the end of the 2012 – 2013 snow season. That last storm that just passed through helped out the New York cities dropping about a foot of snow on them give or take a bit. Several of the other cities also were able to jump into storm Euclid. Anchorage was quiet since the last update which gave some of us a chance to catch up.

It will be interesting to see if Spokane can hold on to the crown come the next update. The losers this update I would have to say were the Twin Cities in which both of them dropped out of the top 10 this week.

Have an Awesome Weekend All and a Happy New Year :)

This has been one of the least snowiest seasons so far that I can remember especially in the north east. That could be changing though now that a blast of cold air has finally come over the great lakes producing some lake effect snow. Forecasts of up to a foot or more turned out to be a bust for cities like Syracuse and the surrounding areas but at least some snow fell. The top cities like Anchorage and the Colorado cities all took a break this last week giving the rest of us a chance to chip away at their lead.

South Bend, Indiana picked up enough snowflakes to move up 18 spots on the snow mountain which also has them in the top 10 now. Syracuse finally went over the one foot mark (pitiful for this late in the season) and managed to jump 23 spots up the mountain. Let’s hope that Alaska and Colorado will keep holding off enough to let the rest of us to keep catching up to them. Several other cities are starting to get into the snow contest and no doubt there is still enough time left in the season for some big changes in the lineup :)

I’m starting to see some forecasts about a possible coastal storm if everything falls into place toward the end of next week. Lets hope it all comes together ;) Enough for now! This is a good basketball night. Duke up first who I always cheer to lose, no offense to you Blue Devil fans and then Syracuse, the number 1 team in the country right now that I always cheer to win. Yes I bleed Orange :)

Have a GREAT Week All and Go ‘CUSE!!!
